Tinubu, Fashola, Adewale: Icons of Democractic Dividends in Lagos.

Living in a country where criticism is unabated though one is working perfectly; as icons of democratic governance in Lagos State, the city of aquatic splendour and commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor- Emeritus of Lagos State has established a transparent government, making the citizens of Lagos State to know how their tax payers' money is spent.

This implies that the issue of accountability was resolved as soon as Tinubu took the leadership of Lagos State in 1999.

Asiwaju also surprised all pundits, being a Muslim, he made sure that he implemented the transformation of public schools which were supposed to be owned by missionaries to the true owners. Examples are St. Finbars College, Holy Child College, Igbobi College, Yaba and Saint Gregories's College.

Asiwaju also made a remarkable leadership quality by introducing the one-day-Governor, whereby a brilliant teenager was allowed to be the governor of Lagos State for a whole day ( no matter which state the student came from.)

Governor Fashola, an advocate of democratic principles, implemented the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) which is a follow up to Tinubu's works. Governor Fashola was recently elected as one of the 10 members of President Yar'Adua Economic Planning Team as an AC governor.

Governor Fashola's implementation of the Green Environment, also entrenched at the grassroots in Amuwo Odofin Local Government by Comrade Ayodele Adewale's led administration, who has inaugurated the Amuwo Odofin Green Club whose function is to plant and nurture trees and flowers in the local government while also improving on the aesthetics of the local government. This has beautified Lagos State, safe guarded our eco- system and also made Lagos a progressive megacity.

Governor Fashola also implemented the crusade against indiscipline by introducing the crash helmet for motorcyclists and passengers. These and many more have made him an icon of democratic dividend in Lagos .

Following the footsteps of these heroes, Comrade Ayodele Adewale has also made a mark by recognising the neccessity of the youths in our society. He has been an advocate of the youth and he hosted the inaugural national meeting of the Coalition for a Better Nigeria on January 27, 2009 in Festival Town where national icons such as Engineer Rauf Aregbesola, Mrs. Sarah Sosan, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Alh. Yerima Usman Shettima, National Chairman, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Dr. Adewale Balogun, Executive Director, Centre For Constitutional Governance, Debo Adeniran, Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, Comrade Olusegun Mayaigun, etc. who at the electoral discourse lectured youths on Money Politics, Rigging, Violence and Assassinations: The Way Forward for Nigeria.
